Mari-Cha III is a very powerful Philippe Briand designed 145ft (45 mtrs) ketch which, in 1998, broke the Transatlantic passage record.

SYS removed the existing pod drive and replaced it with a Hundersted controllable pitch propeller. This involved significant composite construction modifications to her very lightweight hull. At the same time the entire engine room was stripped out, machinery overhauled and refitted. During the major refit a new teak deck was laid, the yacht underwent a major repainting and the hydraulic power assisted steering system was rebuilt.
